Charitable Foundation of the Islands Launches 100+ Women Who Care in 2025
Sanibel, FL — [January 1, 2025] — 100+ Women Who Care Sanibel Captiva will launch this year on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Made possible by a group of committed volunteers and powered by the Charitable Foundation of the Islands, the goal is to gather a dynamic group of women dedicated to making a tangible impact on the community through a dynamic group of women. By harnessing the collective power of more than 100 members, each pledging $100 three times a year, this giving circle transforms small individual contributions into substantial support for local nonprofits.
The group’s mission is to support Sanibel and Captiva 501c3 nonprofits that build community connections. At each meeting, members nominate and vote on charities to receive their pooled funds, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to the selected organization.
With its launch set in 2025, 100+ Women Who Care Sanibel Captiva hopes the giving circle will empower local nonprofits with immediate, impactful support. Meetings are open to all interested women, and members are encouraged to present their favorite nonprofits for consideration.
The Charitable Foundation of the Islands board member and Sanibel resident, Jane Majeski, brought the idea to the board last fall based on a national model established by the 100 Who Care Alliance (100whocarealliance.org). Majeski credits her friend Pam Browning, a Captiva resident, who is a Giving Ambassador of the Dayton, Ohio 100+ Women Who Care Group which has raised over $1.5m since 2007.
“Our goal is simple: make a visible difference in our community” says Jane Majeski, Charitable Foundation of the Islands Board Member and Chair of the Planning
Committee. “This is perfect for you if you want to be part of a powerful group of women who make an immediate, direct and positive impact on those in need.”
Local nonprofits were also consulted about whether the Islands could benefit from such a group. All parties agreed that this would be a great way to collaborate and engage with new residents as well as those interested in an efficient way to raise $10,000 at a one-hour meeting.
As Alison Hussey, Executive Director of the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) shared, “I have seen the power of women giving circles in other communities and I am very excited to see 100+ Women come to Sanibel and Captiva islands. We have had many new residents move here in the last three years. This one-hour gathering will be a great way the nonprofits can benefit but the participants will benefit as well.”

100 Who Care Alliance | About Us - 100 Who are Alliance
The 100 Who Care Alliance was started as a volunteer effort by four 100 Who Care chapter heads that wanted to create a format for sharing ideas and learning from the best practices of other 100 Who Care chapters. As chapter heads, we all have to address similar issues and challenges within our giving circles. We recognized that since we are in such diverse geographical locations, most of us can’t meet other
chapter heads face to face and often, we don’t even know about each other. Towards that end, the Alliance was created to connect us, the 100 Who Care Chapter Leaders.
