Small Business Grants Announced
The Sanibel-Captiva Recovery Fund is an initiative of Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI) activated after natural disasters since Hurricane Charlie. Thanks to CFI donors, we will offer support to small businesses that have suffered economically from the impact of Hurricanes Helene and/or Milton. Gifts will be distributed based on need for independently owned business (average of $5,000 as funds allow). The Sanibel-Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce will participate in the review of applications and assist businesses in the completion of the necessary paperwork. FISH of SanCap will oversee the distribution of funds.
This program builds upon the success of the Sanibel-Captiva Recovery Fund following Hurricane Ian. Most notably, the Sanibel-Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce received a $75,000 grant to hire a membership services manager. This staff position worked with small businessses to apply for grants from the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA), securing over $1.9 M from the Hospitality Cares Program.
