Charitable foundation of the islands welcomes new board member

The Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Chauncey Goss to the Board beginning January 2024. Goss grew up on Sanibel, raised his sons there and lives there with his wife, Allison.

He is the managing partner of Goss Practical Solutions, a firm he founded that provides federal fiscal policy analysis and budget forecasting to its clients. Goss previously worked on Capitol Hill, serving as Deputy Staff Director and Director of Budget Review for the House Budget Committee. He also worked for the Executive Office of the President in the Office of Management and Budget's National Security Division, and as a contracted strategic planner for the Air Force, Navy and intelligence community. He received a B.A. from Rollins College and a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University.

“We are excited to have Chauncey on the board as CFI seeks to strengthen the quality of life for those who live and work on Sanibel and Captiva,” said Dolly Farrell, executive director. “His vast experience and history of public service in the Sanibel/Captiva community and beyond will make him a huge asset as we work to accomplish our mission.”

Goss belongs to the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Kiwanis Club and Sanibel Community Church. He has served on the Sanibel City Council and the boards of Sanibel Community Association, the Ding Darling Wildlife Society, the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation and the Lee Coast Military Officers Association of America Foundation. He was appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District in 2019 and reappointed in 2023. He serves on the Canterbury School Board of Trustees, where he has served as Board Chair, and the Board of Directors of Captains for Clean Water (treasurer), United Way and the Collaboratory. He is also a trustee of Lee County Electric Cooperative.

“CFI has always been on my radar as an organization impacting the entire island community,” Goss said. “I look forward to working collaboratively with other Board members, the nonprofit partners and the community at large. We have work to do and CFI has well-established relationships and the ability to propel the recovery process forward.”
